It has been a while

It has been quiet on this blog for a while. My friend Simone said she wants to read something again, so I am dedicating this post to her. Why have I not written anything over the last months? The big question about whether or not to do an ultra marathon in 2014 was answered just a couple of weeks after Pisa, probably on one of the last days in 2013. I now refer to this experience as the “Horror Run”. In the positive afterglow of the perfect Pisa Marathon I went out for my first long post Pisa training run, very light hearted and with a nothing can harm me attitude. I wanted to do 35k. I only did 32 in the end, the run felt too horrific, I even tripped over in the end (100 meters before I reached my door step), fell, bruised some ribs and decided I am not ready for ultras. Which is still the place where I am stuck now. I did two more Marathons in the meantime, but somehow the excitement of writing about it wore off, probably because I lost my vision. In addition I developed a heel condition over the last months, which I don’t want to tolerate anymore and hence have to do more resting than usual. However, I am in Luxembourg now and tonight at 7pm starts the Luxembourg Night Marathon, which is number 19 for me. And about that I am excited. And nervous as usual. And thinking I won’t be able to do it, as usual. And experience says I will do it, despite all ups and downs. Bring it on 🙂
